What you need to know before you start
It is the most widely recognised personality model in scientific psychology. It measures five major traits — Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness and Emotional Stability — which form the acronym OCEAN. The model was developed by researchers such as Lewis Goldberg, and later by Paul Costa and Robert McCrae.
The MBTI categorises people into sixteen distinct types. The Big Five measures each trait on a continuous spectrum, which provides a more nuanced profile. It is also more strongly supported by academic research.
